We launched one year ago, and what an amazing year it's been – we've done pickups all over the city, met so many of you that are committed to sustainability, and dug through a whole lotta underwear. But all good things do sometimes reconsider their business model.
In order to focus on our core mission of ending post-consumer clothing waste going to landfill, we've decided to take a new approach: a mail-in program for unwearable clothing so customers across the country can responsibly dispose of their holey, stained, and worn out garments.
So what does this mean for us and you?
1. Pickups come to an end (for now)
We're so grateful for your trust in allowing us into your homes and closets. But in order to reach as many people and capture as much waste as possible – with a miniature budget and team – we're focusing our near-term efforts on the waste collection and recycling component of the business. If you were an annual member, we would be happy to do one final pickup for you prior to the expiration of your membership. Just click here to send us a message. We do hope to eventually bring pickups back, but we can't say just yet when that will be.
2. More info on our new recycling program coming in early 2019.
We can't wait to tell you more about what's in store but (as is the startup way), we still have some kinks to work out. We hope to have more details on the program in the first quarter of 2019, so stay tuned!
3. In the meantime, we encourage you to donate to charities in the area (some of them offer pickups!):
Thanks again to all of you for your continued support as we strive to find ways to keep textile waste out of the landfill and get it back into productive use. Please keep in touch with us and stay tuned for updates to come!
